The IAQM is now accepting entries for the 2014 Ian McCrae Award, an opportunity for members who are early career air quality professionals. The annual award, which annually supports the professional development of IAQM members, is a grant of up to £1,000 to spent attending a career developing air quality conference in the UK or abroad. Grant money can be used towards the cost of the conference fee, travel to the event and accommodation. A budgeted plan should be submitted with your application. The £1000 award can sometimes be split between two candidates, with the proportion of the split awarded to each winner at the IAQM Committee’s discretion. Rules of entry • The winner/s are chosen based on who will best benefit from this reward. You should clearly explain why you need and deserve this award in your application • All applications must be submitted by 1st November • Applicants must be early career (less than ten years experience). Closing Date Applications can be submitted between 1st July and 1st November for a conference taking place any time in the following 12 months. The award acts as a memorial to the life and work of Dr Ian McCrae, an internationally-respected air quality scientist who served on the committee of the Institute of Air Quality Management. Ian worked in environmental research for over twenty years, and contributed greatly to the understanding of emissions from transport and links with air quality. He acted in an advisory capacity to a number of UK local authorities and government departments on emissions, air pollution monitoring and modelling.
