The IAQM Early Careers Network (ECN) Subcommittee are excited to host 3 simultaneous networking events in Bristol, Leeds, and London on the 24th September from 5pm.

The events are free and exclusively open to members of the IAQM ECN*. They will be taking place in-person, with no hybrid/remote options available.

All three events will be hosted by a member of the IAQM ECN Subcommittee (details below). There will be plenty of time for informal discussion amongst attendees, as well as the chance to hear directly from the Subcommittee regarding activities and opportunties for involvement within the ECN.

Networking is a valuable opportunity to connect to other professionals, gain industry insights, and exchange knowledge with peers. These events are also a chance to meet fellow ECN members ahead of future in-person events such as the IAQM’s upcoming annual conference, Routes to Clean Air. As an IAQM ECN member, you have the unique ability to meet like-minded colleagues right across the air quality sector and expand your professional network.

Our hosts

Mark Nichols is an Associate Air Quality Consultant at Rappor. He has a background in Environmental Management, with a BSc and MSc in this field. He has been a member of the IAQM since 2018, and has been on the IAQM ECN since 2020. He is Vice Chair of the ECN and is a member of the IAQM Committee. Mark will be hosting the Bristol event.

Jekabs Jursins is an Air Quality Senior Consultant at WSP, coming from a background in Geophysical Sciences at the University of Leeds. His main area of expertise lies in the policy review of National Air Pollution Control Programmes submitted by EU Member States under the National Emission reduction Commitment Directive (Directive (EU) 2016/2284) for the benefit of the European Commission. He also provides air quality modelling and assessment support in Local Air Quality Management processes. Jekabs will be hosting the Leeds event.

Kit Benjamin is a Senior Air Quality Consultant at Buro Happold. In this role he works on a range of projects both in the UK and internationally, including for development planning and EIA, indoor air quality, international concept masterplans and strategic redevelopment plans. His background is in meteorology, for which he has an integrated masters degree. Prior to joining the air quality industry, he worked as a research technician in the field of urban micrometeorology. He has been an associate member of the IAQM since 2021. Kit will be hosting the London event.

*We define ‘early careers’ as the first 10 years of your career in air quality, so please do not register if you fall outside of this criteria as you will not be allocated a space.
