AS Modelling & Data Limited is a specialist environmental consultancy providing odour, ammonia and other pollutant assessments, primarily for the planning and permitting of agricultural and industrial projects throughout the UK. Much of our work concerns intensive poultry and pig installations and other agricultural developments, alongside industrial emissions, combustion plant and other specialist modelling projects.

We are looking for an experienced air-quality professional who can independently manage complex projects from initial enquiry through to completed assessment. Applications are welcomed from experienced Principal Consultants ready to take the next step or existing Associate Directors looking for a more flexible position.

This is a hands-on technical role with genuine influence. As our first senior appointment, you will work directly with the company directors and help shape the future development of a successful specialist consultancy.

THE ROLE
• Manage projects from instruction through to completion, including scope, budget and deadlines;
• Undertake atmospheric dispersion modelling using ADMS;
• Prepare air-quality, odour, ammonia and nitrogen-deposition assessments;
• Support planning applications and environmental permit applications;
• Liaise directly with clients, planning consultants, regulators and other project-team members;
• Produce clear, technically robust reports and respond to regulator or consultee comments;
• Scope and quote work, provide technical review and build long-term client relationships and
• Peer-review modelling and reports, and support junior members of staff.

ABOUT YOU
• Substantial consultancy experience at Principal, Associate or equivalent level;
• Able to deliver dispersion-modelling projects accurately and with minimal supervision;
• Strong working knowledge of ADMS and atmospheric-dispersion principles;
• Good understanding of UK planning and environmental-permitting requirements;
• Sound professional judgement and clear, defensible technical writing;
• Dependable, organised and comfortable managing your own workload remotely and
• Based in the UK with an existing right to work in the UK. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship.

Experience in modelling agricultural odour and ammonia, and in the associated planning and permitting processes, would be particularly valuable. IAQM membership or another relevant professional qualification is welcomed but not essential.

FLEXIBLE WORKING
This is genuinely remote working, with no routine office requirement. Hours can be arranged flexibly around agreed deadlines and reasonable availability for collaboration.

We welcome full-time, part-time and job-share applications, including from established job-share partners or individuals seeking a suitable match.

The position may particularly suit someone who wants to leave a larger corporate environment without stepping back technically, or an experienced consultant balancing senior work with commitments outside work.

• £60,000–£72,000 FTE, depending on experience and the level of technical, client and commercial responsibility undertaken;
