Air Quality Symposium

The UK Indoor Environments Group (UKIEG) and CIBSE working groups (Natural Ventilation, Air Quality and Health & Wellbeing) have collaborated to establish a networking event and half-day seminar involving a multidisciplinary audience of industry experts, government experts and academics.

Morning networking session: UK IAQ working groups– mapping remits, outputs and collaboration areas
The event aims to bring air quality experts from across the UK and map out collaboration opportunities.
10.30am-Noon: Presentations from CIBSE Air Quality Group, Institute of Air Quality Management, UK Indoor Environment Group, CIBSE Health & Wellbeing Group and others. Followed by live brainstorming session of how to establish cooperation between working groups and efficiently deliver healthy buildings across the UK
Noon-1pm – Networking lunch

Afternoon session: Establishing consensus on the use of CO2 and TVOC as indoor air quality metrics
The event will build upon survey results on how CO2 and TVOC metrics are currently used. The objective is to develop a consensus on how these metrics should be used in building design and operation based on empirical scientific evidence.

1:00pm to 1:30pm – Reception
1.30pm – 3.15pm – Presentations by selected members outlining scientific evidence
  1. Public Health England
  2. UKIEG and/or CIBSE Natural Ventilation Representative
  3. CIBSE Air Quality Group and/or CIBSE Health & Wellbeing Group (industry overview and benefit of IAQ indicators)
  4. Outline of online survey results
3.15pm-3.30pm – Break
3.3opm-5pm – 30 min small group discussions followed by 45 min/or shorter group discussion in auditorium summarising finding
