EFRA select committee consultation response

The IAQM has recently submitted evidence to an inquiry of the House of Commons Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee on Defra’s role in tackling air quality. The committee wished to investigate how effectively the Department’s plans, including Clean Air Zones, will reduce nitrogen dioxide limits to comply with EU limit values, but also how well Defra is leading work to tackle air pollution more widely. In this response, the IAQM direct the attention of the committee to their response to Defra’s consultation, and reiterate that “we are firmly of the view that the plans do not meet the requirement of achieving compliance with the NO2 limit value in the shortest possible time”. The IAQM response also includes evidence on transport, industrial and agricultural emissions. Download the full IAQM response (pdf)
