SUMMARY:Decarbonising transport in the West Midlands: win-win-wins for carbon\, air quality\, and health?
DESCRIPTION:Climate change is already influencing health outcomes\, service pressures\, and economic resilience across the West Midlands. The WM-Net Zero study brings together the latest evidence\, local data\, and scientific insights to support health focused policy actions. This IAQM webinar will explore the implications of different road transport decarbonisation pathways for air quality and health outcomes in the West Midlands\, considering synergies and trade-offs for health improvement and equity. There will also be time for an audience Q&A at the end of the presentation. Our SpeakerDr Suzanne Bartington is a Clinical Associate Professor in Environmental Health in the Department of Applied Health Sciences\, and an Honorary Consultant in Public Health. Her research portfolio extends across ambient and indoor air quality\, sustainable transport and environmental public policy. Since 2022 she has served as UK Clean Air Champion\, bringing together the UK world-class air quality research base to develop practical solutions to air quality issues. She is co-lead for the £2m Wellcome Trust funded “A Health -centred systems approach towards net-zero: transforming regional climate mitigation policies using the West Midlands as an exemplar to demonstrate the wider benefits of health-centred net zero approaches. Dr Bartington also serves as a member of the Committee on the Medical Effects of Air Pollutants (COMEAP) and is a former County Councillor. She is also an IAQM Honorary Fellow.Banner image © Jevanto Protography via Adobe Stock

SUMMARY:Routes to Clean Air 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Institute of Air Quality Management presents Routes to Clean Air 2026\, its annual conference on topics relevant to air quality practitioners and associated professionals. The conference will take place over two days\, 21st and 22nd October\, at thestudio\, Birmingham. \nThis year’s Routes to Clean Air will be focused on topics related to air quality measurement\, monitoring\, and modelling. This follows the IAQM’s decision to absorb topics that were previously covered under the separate Dispersion Modelling User Group (DMUG) and Measuring Air Quality (MAQ) conferences into the Routes to Clean Air umbrella in order to provide more consistency across the IAQM events programme. \nThe conference agenda will feature thought-provoking presentations and panel discussions\, ensuring an extensive exploration of the most relevant subjects in air quality measurement\, monitoring\, and modelling. \nRoutes to Clean Air is also a great opportunity for networking\, allowing delegates to forge meaningful connections with fellow air quality professionals. We understand the value of collaboration and knowledge exchange\, as well as gaining CPD. \nDelegates will also be able to interact with leading companies in the air quality sector. This is your chance to see some of the latest cutting-edge technologies\, innovative solutions\, and best practices aimed at tackling the challenges associated with air pollution. \n\n\n\nSave the date in your diary – bookings will be opening soon! \n\n \n	\n\n	\n \n Abstract Submissions\nSubmission of abstracts is now closed. \nThank you to everyone who submitted their abstracts to us\, we are currently reviewing them and will announce our new speakers soon.
